| The cover photograph for the Canadian Sailings Magazine was shot from the deck of a raised bridge. As the ship got closer and closer and eventually went underneath the bridge I rushed to the other side of the bridge. I had just enough time to grab a polarizing filter from my shoulder bag and shoot a few frames. I knew as soon as I looked through the lens that I had a great shot. The weather was perfect for shooting, it was overcast just enough to saturate the colours of the cargo, and of the ship itself. Besides having the great opportunity to shoot the ship "M.V. Stellanova"; I also got a chance to drive up the coast of Lake Superior and visit some of the State Parks in Minnesota. Before this trip I had never been to the shores of Lake Superior, and I cannot wait to go back. It was absolutely beautiful.
I have to thank Jumbo Shipping in Holland and Project Transport & Trading Co Ltd. in Toronto, for taking the chance to hire an amateur photographer with little experience. It was an amazing experience, and a great opportunity to see and photograph in one of the most beautiful places on the Great Lakes.
